Laboratories

AUTONOM Head Office

AUTONOM Head Office is the environment where design and meetings are held within the research center. It consists of a manager’s room, a meeting room, a common work area for research assistants and engineers.

Mechanical Design Workshop

The mechanical design laboratory is the environment where the production stages of the projects planned within the research center take place. In addition to the research center, some of the student projects within the university are carried out here. In terms of physical space and technical equipment, it is aimed to help students increase their practical skills. This laboratory hosts various machines and equipment with different technologies. Students can make observations of the engineers while they are working in the center.

Electrical and Electronics Design Workshop

The electronic design workshop is the environment where the electronic systems of the projects planned within the research center, are produced. In addition to the research center, some of the student projects within the university are carried out here. In terms of physical space and technical equipment, it is aimed to help students increase their practical skills. There are various production and testing equipment with different capabilities in the design workshop. Thanks to the devices here; electric motor, motor driver, battery, battery management system, charging unit, vehicle control system, flight control computer and different cards for needs are produced.

Underwater Vehicles Test Workshop

The underwater vehicles test workshop is used to perform the capability and preliminary system tests of underwater and surface vehicles developed within the research center. In line with the characteristics of the pool used; surface, system development, image processing and autonomous control skills are tested and calibrated.

Composite Materials Workshop

The process of producing a more durable and more resistant new material with the properties of the combined materials by going through certain processes of two or more materials whose structure and properties are completely different from each other is called “composite”, and the new material that emerges is called “composite material”.

Composite materials, which are frequently used in the interior and exterior structures of new generation aircraft, are preferred due to their lightness and strength properties. Different material types are preferred according to the type and characteristics of the projects developed within the research center. Composite material is frequently used in projects where lightness and strength should be at the forefront. Composite materials are used in land, air and sea vehicles designed and produced. Thanks to the composite workbench and the furnace in the inventory, different materials are produced using various production techniques.

3D Prototyping Workshop

3D Prototyping workshop offers the opportunity to examine the designs of the projects realized within the research center by producing them with 3D printers before the final production. Certain parts of large or small projects like, land, air and sea vehicles, are produced and examined with this method. By examining the size and shape structure, optimized final products are obtained in the designs where necessary corrections are applied. Thanks to the capacity and quantity of the devices in the inventory, large-scale production is carried out when necessary, and a large number of products are produced quickly when necessary.

Electromechanical Tensile Test Laboratory

The strength tests of the parts designed and produced in the electromechanical tensile test workshop and research center are carried out.

The tensile test is a basic materials science test in which a sample is subjected to uniaxial tensile forces until it breaks. The results from the test are used to select materials for any application, quality control, and predict how the material will behave under other forces. Maximum tensile stress and maximum elongation data are obtained through this test.
